Setting Up a Feed

In Skimmr, you can create feeds to collect and filter content based on your own criteria. This guide walks you through creating a new feed, configuring its options, and setting up filters.

There are two kinds of feed:

• A Master Feed is a paid feed. It determines the scope of content available in your account.

• A Sub-feed is free and is based on an existing Master Feed. Any user can create one. Sub-feeds can only use topics and locations that are already covered by their Master Feed.

Creating a new feed

1. Open the left-hand menu and select + feed.

2. The feed settings panel will open. On the right, select Create New Master Feed or If you instead want a Sub-feed based on scope you already pay for, use the list of Master Feeds on the left side of this window.

3. Add a label to name your feed.

4. Choose a color if you want to visually distinguish the feed.

Choosing content sources

Select where the feed should draw its content from:

• Crawled content: content from the tens of thousands of websites Skimmr crawls.

• Ingested emails.

• Competitors.

You can select more than one source.

Configuring filters

Filters allow you to define exactly which items should appear in the feed. Each feed can contain multiple filters, and you can also create additional filter groups for more complex setups.

Filter options

Choose a criterion, then set the logic that should apply, then choose the values.

For Master Feeds:

• Topic and Location are always present and cannot be removed. Both must be filled in before you can preview or subscribe to the feed.

• Select + Filter to add a URL line if you want to restrict the feed to specific sources. This is the only filter that can be added.

• Master Feeds cannot use exclusion filters and cannot contain more than one filter group.

For Sub-feeds:

• You can choose freely between includes all of, includes any of, and excludes all of.

• You can only select topics and locations that the Master Feed already covers.

Adding multiple criteria

In a Sub-feed you can add several criteria within a single filter. This allows you to create more precise rules for the items you want to include or exclude.

Topic relevance

When selecting topics, you can assign a relevance level from 1 to 12. All levels are selected by default.

• 12 represents globally highly relevant content.

• 1 represents content that is hardly relevant, even locally.

This allows you to filter not only by topic but also by the importance of the content.

Connections (optional)

You can choose one or multiple connection options to send this feed’s content to (for example your CMS, Make.com or n8n). Connection options can be set up on the Connections page.

Kordiam Inbox (optional)

You can allow users to send Skimmr content elements from this feed to a pre-defined Kordiam Inbox (not available yet).

Pricing and activating a Master Feed

The price of a Master Feed is determined solely by the topics and locations you select. Relevance levels, URL filters, and connections have no effect on it. The exact amount is calculated during checkout, not in the feed settings panel.

Once a topic and a location are selected, two actions become available:

• Preview feed: see what the feed would return before paying for it.

• Subscribe to feed: continue to checkout and activate the feed.

A feed only begins updating continuously once the subscription is active.

Sub-feeds are covered by the Master Feed's subscription and cost nothing additional.

Once the feed is active it appears on your feeds start page, where you can access or edit it at any time.

Once you have configured all settings and filters, save the feed. It will then appear on your feeds start page, where you can access or edit it at any time.
